Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol used to encode the data exchanged between a hosting server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to secure the information that clients submit on your Internet site - a login page, a payment page if you run an Internet store, etc. Any data they input in any box on the website shall be submitted safely to the server, so their login or payment details shall be protected from being accessed by unauthorized individuals. Normally, an SSL certificate requires a dedicated IP address to be installed, which means the overall cost for your presence online will be higher. While this may not be a problem for a larger firm, it might matter for a non-profit organization or a small online shop which does not generate big earnings if additional money should be spent. This is the main reason why we have taken advantage of an extension called Server Name Indication (SNI) and we have made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Website Hosting

Given that we offer SSL certificates with our website hosting solutions, you can easily secure your site and use a shared IP address with only several clicks. The option will be available during the order process, so if you have a dedicated IP address, you'll be able to use it, but if you don't have one and you do not want to pay for this type of a service, you could use the shared IP, which has been set up specifically for SSLs. The certificate will work in the exact same way as if it had a dedicated IP address and the one difference will be that if someone attempts to open the IP address as a URL, they won't see your website. Given that our system comes with an auto-configuration option, the SSL will be installed automatically the moment it's issued, so you'll not have to do anything on your end after you approve it. This way, you can have a risk-free and trustworthy website without spending extra cash for that.
